Banteay Meanchey (FN), July 20 – Recent reports of heavy weaponry being smuggled from Cambodia into Thailand cannot be considered reliable.

The five suspects being held in connection to the trafficking have not shared information as to where the weapons were obtained, though they have mentioned a location about 2km from the Cambodian border, according to Banteay Meanchey’s military general, Plun Dara.

Thai forces in Sa Kaeo province have been cracking down on trafficked heavy weapons, which led to the arrest of 5 Thai nationals and the seizure of two 82mm and one 80mm grenade launchers, three ignition devices, three vehicles, and six mobile devices, on July 18.
