Phnom Penh (FN), July 3 – Ministry of Interior (MoI)’s spokesman Khieu Sopheak confirmed that the fourth mandate commune councilors will enter office today.
He added that as the announcement was given to provincial authorities, some communes has not yet done so.

“The MoI fully accredited commune councils, commune chief, first deputy, second deputy. The announcement was given to provincial authorities. The announcement will begin today nationwide, including all provinces, except some has not yet done so”, stated the spokesman.

According to the official results of the National Election Committee announced on June 25, there are 11,572 seats for commune councilors across 1,646 communes, 1,939 are female.

Cambodian People’s Party won 6,503 seats, Cambodia National Rescue Party won 5,007 seats, Funcipec party won 28 seats, League for Democracy Party won 4 seats, Khmer National United Party won 24 seats, Beehive Social Democratic Party won 1 seat, and Grassroots Democracy Party won 5 seats.
