Phnom Penh (FN), June 29 – After a morning-long hearing, the Appeal Court decided to uphold the Phnom Penh Municipal Court's previous verdict against Hong Sok Hour, former senator from Sam Rainsy Party.

The Phnom Penh Municipal Court, on Nov. 7, 2016, sentenced Hong Sok Hour to seven years in prison for forging Article 4 of the 1979 Vietnam-Thailand Border Treaty and posting it on Sam Rainsy’s Facebook page.

Hong was charged with forging public documents, using forged public documents, and incitement causing serious chaos for social security, which provides for punishments under Articles 495, 629, and 630 of the Criminal Code.

Hong's criminal acts has led to court's charges against Sam Rainsy, former Cambodia National Rescue Party president in exile, for conspiring to commit the offense.
