Phnom Penh (FN), June 12 – Cambodia and Vietnam organized a celebration of the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations on Monday.

The two neighbors vowed to maintain ties of solidarity and cooperation, especially in this age of globalization.

The half-day celebration was led by Chou Bun Eng, Minister of Interior and Chairman of the Institute for Southeast Asian Studies at the Academy of Social Science and was attended by other dignitaries.

The celebration gave participants the opportunity to learn about trade and investment cooperation, social and cultural cooperation, as well as the environmental cooperation in the sustainable utilization of Mekong water resources between Cambodia and Vietnam.

“Over the past 50 years of diplomatic relations, the two nations have been willing to strengthen the solidarity and fraternity as a good neighbor with a great collaboration in time of needs,” stated Chou Bun Eng.

“Cambodia-Vietnam shall maintain and strengthen solidarity, friendship and cooperation for a better competition in a globalized world,” she added.

On this occasion, there were Cambodian and Vietnamese guest speakers and panelists present to discuss ideas relating to economic and socio-cultural cooperation and cooperation on the exploitation of water resources.
