Kampong Cham (FN), May 15 - A $57 million bridge across Mekong River was being constructed in Kampong Cham.

The bridge is 1km long and 13 meters wide.

The construction began on May 10, 2017 and was expected to be completed in 2020.

The official groundbreaking was set to be held in November, according to the Ministry of Public Works and Transport.

"The bridge will ease people's burden, as they do not have to pay to ride the ferry across the Mekong River. It is also time-effective,” said Lun Lim Thai, Kompong Cham Provincial Governor.

“The bridge will contribute substantially to the movement of people and goods,” said Sun Chanthol, Minister of Public Works and Transport.
