Phnom Penh (FN), May 3 – Khieu Kanharith, the Minister of Information (MoI), announced that journalists who give an alias to the government are breaking the law.

The statement was made during the World Press Freedom Day celebration  at Phnom Penh's Tonle Bassac Restaurant 2 on Wednesday.

“There are two ways to work undercover. Using an alias to investigate the black market is okay; however, working undercover as a means to investigate the authorities is illegal,” stated Khieu Kanharith.

The minister used the recent events concerning Chun Chanbuth, the RFA deputy director, who has been charged after allegedly entering Prey Sar prison under a false name.
