Phnom Penh (FN), April 22 – Over 600 Cambodian athletes, along with officials from the Malaysian Embassy, celebrated a 9km baton run on Saturday morning.

Hang Choun Naron, Minister of Education, Youth, and Sports, as well as the Deputy Minister of Education of Malaysia also joined the race.

The run is part of the opening of the 29th SEA Games and ASEAN Para Games, which will be held in Malaysia in 2017.

The race began at the Malaysian Embassy and ended at Olympic Stadium

“The baton is an artificial light stick, which is used for running. The baton was handed to representatives of Embassy of Indonesia, who will organize their baton-run on April 30 after Cambodia,” stated Norjufri Nizar Edrus, a representative of the Malaysian Embassy.

The DM of Education of Malaysia,  Sean Borat, and the Secretary of the Ministry of Education, Youth, and Sport were both pleased with this morning's run.
