PHNOM PENH (FN), Jan. 9 — Kampong Thom Provincial court issued today a warrant to put in temporary detention the man suspected of involving in a murder attempt on Prime Minister Hun Sen via Facebook.

Investigating Judge, Sith Vannak, issued the warrant to put the suspect in temporary detention at the provincial prison pending further interrogation, said a senior provincial court’s official.

Phnom Penh Municipal Court Deputy Prosecutor, Sieng Sok, said yesterday that the suspect would be returned to Kampong Thom the ground that the crime was committed in the province.

The suspect identified as Mann Sam Orn, 25, was arrested by police on January 7 in Koh commune, Santuk district, Kampong Thom province, for allegedly threatening to kill Prime Minister Hun Sen via Facebook. He was sent to Phnom Penh Municipal Court and was interrogated by the court throughout the day.

The suspect has been charged by the prosecutor with humiliating and threatening to kill the Prime Minister and would be sentenced to imprisonment of between 6 months and 2 year if convicted.
