PHNOM PENH (FN), Jan. 8 — In the aftermath of a test by North Korea of a hydrogen bomb, thousands of Koreans living in Cambodia issued a strong statement today condemning the act and urging the world to sanction it.

“15,000 Korean compatriots in Cambodia strongly condemn the North Korea’s 4th nuclear test even the repeated warnings and concerns of the United Nations (UN), the international community and the South Korea Government,” reads the statement.

The statement also urged “The Korean Government for strong sanctions to be taken against North Korea...," for threatening and undermining peace in the Korean Peninsula and the world.

“Korean compatriots in Cambodia along with the Cambodians and foreigners living in Phnom Penh, who love peace, urge the international community and the UN Security Council for the strong additional sanctions to be taken against aggressive North Korea,” the statement said.

Korean Central News Agency, KCNA, and North Korea television announced yesterday that they had successfully tested its first Hydrogen bomb, saying that the test was for the purpose of protecting “the sovereignty of the country.
