Phnom Penh – A third warrant, in just over three months was issued by Phnom Penh Municipal Court today against the self-imposed exile opposition leader, Sam Rainsy for forging Cambodia-Vietnam border treaties.
In the arrest warrant issued by investigating judge and made available to the press today, Judge Koa Vandy explained that the warrant was issued after Mr. Rainsy had been summoned to appear in the court on 4 December last year but he failed to show up.
Mr. Sam Rainsy, President of the National Rescue Party, has been charged by the court on three different accounts namely defamation against Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs Hor Namhong and against National Assembly President Heng Samrin. He is also charged with forging documents and incitement causing harm to social security on the 12-13 August, last year.
