Phnom Penh (FN), Feb 4 – Equinox, the condition when the Sun will rise upon the middle summit of Angkor Wat Temple, is likely to happen during March 20-21, 2017, according to a statement released Saturday by Ministry of Tourism (MoT).

MoT urged local and international visitors to participate in a selfie competition to share this marvelous event with the world.

The equinox is an astronomical event in which the plane of Earth's equator passes through the center of the Sun. This happens twice per year.

The equinox over Angkor Wat temple portrays the wonder of Cambodia’s tangible cultural heritage, built by Khmer ancestors with a clear vision connected to this natural phenomenon.
