Phnom Penh (FN), Jan. 6 – Sam Rainsy, President of Cambodian National Rescue Party (CNRP), will be arrested if he dares to return home, a government official said Friday.

Ministry of Interior’s Sopkesman Khieu Sopheak said that so far no one bans Rainsy from entering the country; however, he will have to face with Cambodian law.

The spokesman made the warning one day after Sam Rainy told his party's activists in Cambodia through his Facebook, saying he will meet them soon.

"I appreciate the effort of all the CNRP activists and I will meet everyone soon”, Rainsy wrote on his Facebook page.

Khieu Sopheak, however, said Rainsy will not come as what he had claimed.

Sam Rainsy has been in self exile abroad for more than one year after Phnom Penh Municipal Court charged him with defamation case brought against him by former Foreign Minister Hor Namhong.

And in late December last year, he was also sentenced to 5-year in prison for forging public document related to Cambodia-Vietnam Border Treaty.
