Phnom Penh (FN), May 10 – Cambodian prime minister Hun Sen and a high delegation departed from Phnom Penh, Cambodia, to attend and co-chair the ASEAN-US Special Summit in Washington D.C. on 12-13 May 2022.

The participation was made at the invitation of the president of the United States of America Joseph R. Biden, Jr.

On the margin of the Summit, premier Hun Sen and other leaders will be received and hosted bipartisan lunch by Nancy Pelosi, Speaker of the House of Representatives of the United States, at the Capitol Hill and dinner by Joseph R. Biden, Jr., president of the United States of America, at the White House, according to a press release dated 9 May 2022.

“ASEAN Leaders will also be meeting with American business leaders to discuss economic cooperation. ASEAN Leaders will be meeting with Her Excellency Vice President Kamala Harris and US Cabinet Secretaries on issues related to climate action, clean energy and sustainable infrastructure.”

“Exchange of views on regional and international issues and on how to bring ASEAN-U.S. Partnership to a new height will be the highlight of this Special Summit.”

According to the press release, premier Hun Sen will have a bilateral meeting with Vietnamese prime minister Pham Minh Chinh, and other leaders of ASEAN Member States.

Samdech will also meet with Cambodian compatriots who live in the US.
