WASHINGTON, Oct. 27 (Xinhua) -- U.S. Republican vice presidential nominee Mike Pence's campaign plane slid off the runway while landing at New York's LaGuardia airport Thursday, with no injuries reported, according to local TV networks.

Tarmac damage was seen on the runway after Pence's plane slid off, a piece of online video showed.

Fog, rain and mist were reported at the New York airport at the time when Pence's plane slid off the runway, said an NBC report.

Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump called his running mate after the incident "and is very glad everyone on board the plane is safe," a spokesman said.

Pence flew into New York after a campaign event in Iowa earlier on Thursday.

The LaGuardia Airport has closed until further notice after the incident. The cause of the incident is still unknown.
