SINGAPORE, Sept. 6 (Xinhua) — Singapore confirmed 17 new cases of locally transmitted Zika virus infection as of Tuesday, said the Ministry of Health and National Environment Agency in a joint statement.

Tuesday's update brings the total number of Zika infections in Singapore to 275.

The ministry said that among these newly reported cases, 10 are linked to the Aljunied Crescent/ Sims Drive/ Kallang Way/ Paya Lebar Way cluster.

There is a potential new cluster involving one previously reported case and a new case on Tuesday, said the ministry. They both live in the Bishan Street 12 area. The other cases have no known links to any existing cluster.

The statement said vector control operations and outreach efforts are being carried out in Singapore.
