PHNOM PENH (FN), August 30 – After receiving the information that 18 suspected Cambodian workers had been arrested for illegal fishing in the Indonesian waters since they were working on a Thai fishing boat identified as KM. JHF 6525, Senior Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Prak Sokhonn issued an urgent instruction to Cambodian Embassy in Indonesia intervene in the issue immediately.

According to a press release by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Senior Minister Prak Sokhonn has instructed the Ambassador in Indonesia to go down to the field to find out about the plight of those workers and to contact and negotiate with the Indonesian authorities for the release of those workers since they were actually just victims of a human trafficking and then cooperate with International Organization for Migration (IOM) in Jakarta to arrange for their repatriation.
