Phnom Penh (FN), August 12 – Phnom Penh Municipality issued today August 12, 2016 an urgent notice to the opposition Cambodian National Rescue Party saying that the party shall refrain from involving in any activity related to the Black Monday campaign as of today and onwards.

The notice by the municipality came out after a senior member of CNRP had said that starting from today the party would participate in the black clothing campaign every Monday in demand for the release of human rights activists and political prisoners that are currently in prison.

“The municipality considers that the announcement of participation by CNRP in the campaign would constitute an incitement, instigation and illegal mobilization of people from non-governmental organizations, associations and communities that would go cause disturbances and would go against the guidance of the Ministry of Interior and that of the government,” reads the letter of notice addressed to acting president of CNRP, Kem Sokha.
