Phnom Penh (FN), Nov. 22 – Former President of Colombia Andrés Pastrana Arango thanked the Royal Government of Cambodia for providing experiences on demining operations.

A special thank to Cambodia was conveyed during President Pastrana's visit to Cambodian Mine Action Center (CMAC) on 20 November 2019 on the sideline of his attendance in Asia Pacific Summit, held in Phnom Penh.

CMAC Director General Heng Ratana said the visit of H.E former president is happening at the same time when delegates of Colombian Landmine Specialist Engineering are training on mechanical demining operations.

"CMAC has a great honor to welcome the former President of the Republic of Colombia. This visit wishes to appeal his special thanks to the Royal Government for supporting South-South Cooperation initiatives to allow CMAC provides training to Colombian demining experts," Heng Ratana wrote on his Facebook page on Wednesday.

"At the same time, the former president also takes this opportunity to meet the Colombian armed forces who are in Cambodia for training with CMAC on mechanical demining operations", he added.

It is worth noting that nine delegates of Colombian Landmine Specialist Engineering are training on how to operate mine-clearance machine and learned more on the demining operations in Cambodia.

CMAC has provided mine clearance trainings to hundreds of trainees from 15 countries.
