Phnom Penh (FN), July 20 – In a meeting with Cambodia Chief Diplomat Prak Sokhonn this morning of July 20, 2016, the newly appointed Burmese Ambassador U Myint Soe hailed Cambodia as Myanmar’s best friend and promised to further boost relations and cooperation between the two countries in both bilateral and regional frameworks, according to Chum Sounry, spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Cambodia’s Senior Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Prak Sokhonn touted cooperation between the two countries, particularly the exchange of visits by top leaders of the two countries namely Prime Minister Hun Sen’s visit to Myanmar in 2014 and 2015 followed by a visit to Cambodia by Myanmar’s Vice President.

Senior Minister Park Sokhonn also highlighted Cambodia experiences, especially PM Hun Sen’s win-win policy that has brought about peace and national reconciliation to Cambodia and that it could also be an experience for national reconciliation in Myanmar. He also praised Myanmar on achieving 8.5 percent of economic growth which is the highest proportion among ASEAN member States.

Sokhonn also talked about the economic development in Cambodia and that this development will allow the two countries to expand trade exchange in the future.
