Phnom Penh (FN), July 20 – Ouch Borith, Secretary of State of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation said that Cambodia objects to the assertion made by the European Parliament and the U.S. Congress that Cambodia is currently struck by a political crises, saying that the assertions were simply based on unfounded reports, one-sided and nontransparent documents.

Ouch Borith made his remarks during a discussion meeting he had with a Swiss delegation led by Mr. Johannes Matyassy, Assistant to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Switzerland on the morning of July 20, 2016.

Borith said the assertion by the European Parliament and the U.S. Congress that Cambodia is in a political crises, is actually not true, since Cambodia is currently just performing her duties for development, respect for human rights, strengthening rules of law, for the sake of further prosperity.

The Secretary of State stressed that Cambodia does not have a political crises and what have been happening is just out of personal affairs of individual politicians. For these reasons, legal actions are taken and nothing to do with politics.

In response, the Swiss delegation made it clear that Switzerland would not interfere in the internal affairs of Cambodia and would continue to welcome efforts and commitment by the Cambodian government to improve the political situation and its popularity.
