Phnom Penh (FN), June 27 – National Assembly President Heng Samrin, this afternoon of June 27, 2016, met with Prime Minister Thongloun SISOULITH of Lao People’s Democratic Republic, for discussions on border issues and encouraged that border issues between Cambodia and Lao should be addressed quickly so that the borders of conflict could be transformed into the borders of friendship, peace, good cooperation and development.

During the meeting with Mr. Thongloun SISOULITH at the National Assembly building, Samdech Heng Samrin said Cambodia and Laos are both good neighbors, brother and sister, and Cambodian people all over the country are very happy to see that Lao is developing fast socio-economically and that living standard of the Laotian people has been gradually improved. The people of Lao will continue to achieve further success toward development in the future, Samdech Heng Samrin said.

“I would like to support and encourage that the two countries continue to discuss the remaining border issues for the border demarcation to be completed soon and that the borders of the two countries will become borders of friendship, peace, cooperation and sustainable development,” said Samdech Heng Samrin.

Sandech Heng Samrin at the same time congratulated Mr. Thongloun SISOUILTH for being elected as Lao new Prime Minister and that Cambodia will continue to support the MOUs as well as agreement reached by the two countries as of the present and will continue to promote further cooperation between the two countries in the fields of trade, investment and tourism.
