Phnom Penh (FN), June 27 – Prime Minister Hun Sen and his counterpart, Prime Minister Thongloun SISOULITH of Lao People’s Democratic Republic, have agreed to set up additional border-crossings along the border of the two countries with a view to boosting cross-border trade and tourism. The two countries also agreed to set up general consulates in the border provinces of Stung Treng and Pakse respectively to facilitate cross-border visits by citizens of the two countries.

During the meeting with Mr. Thongloun SISOULITH, Prime Minister Hun Sen expressed his satisfaction with what have been raised by his Laotian counterpart with regard to bilateral relations and cooperation and the actions that have been taken so far to promote cooperation between the two countries. The premier was also impressed that, under the direct supervision of Mr. Thongloun SISOULITH, Lao’s All Stars football team came and played a tournament in Cambodia recently, a move that reflects good relationship between the two countries.

On his part, Mr. Thongloun SISOULITH suggested that cooperation between the two countries be further enhanced at both regional and international levels as well as more exchanges of visits by the two countries’ leaders and people. He also recommended more tourism and economic investments based on potentials of the two countries.

After a meeting this morning, June 27, 2016, at the Peace Palace, Mr. Thongloun SISOULITH will attend a dinner reception this evening that will be hosted by Prime Minister Hun Sen.
