Phnom Penh (FN), Jan. 12 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen stated that Cambodia is drafting anti-cybercrime and fake news law, addressing to 5,000 local journalists at the Diamond Island Convention on Friday.

Even countries who claimed themselves “democratic” enacted laws to counter cyber crime and fake news, so Cambodia shall have it too.

Prime Minister reassured that the cybercrime law will be in compliances with other Cambodian laws, including Law on Media 1995, Law on Rights to Information, and Criminal Law.

The Premier urged all journalists to fight against fake news in Cambodia in response to the booming of false information.

He stated that the most effective way to counter fake news is to publish true information in a timely manner as a clarification.

His appeal was made following the fake news published recently, including “Hun Sen Dies”; “Oknha Kith Meng Arrested”.
