HANOI, June 6 (Xinhua) -- Vietnamese and French defense ministers on Monday agreed to further promote cooperation and consider the establishment of a mechanism on defense strategic dialogue.

The consensus was reached during talks between Vietnamese Minister of Defense Ngo Xuan Lich and his French counterpart Jean- Yves Le Drian in Vietnam's capital Hanoi on Monday.

During the talks, the two sides also agreed to strengthen mutual trust, enhance sharing of experience in participation in United Nations Peacekeeping missions, and marine and aviation safety, according to the website of Vietnamese Ministry of Defense.

The two sides pledged to create favorable conditions for French enterprises of defense industry to operate in Vietnam.

The French defense minister is paying a visit to Vietnam from Sunday to Tuesday.
