Singapore (FN), Nov. 15 - Speaking at the 2nd Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership Summit on 14 November in Singapore, Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen reiterated the priority placed by ASEAN on the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) as a centerpiece of its external economic relations.

Where RCEP participating countries include ASEAN Member States and ASEAN’s free trade agreement (FTA) partners: Australia, China, India, Japan, Korea, and New Zealand gathered, Cambodian Strongman underlined that RCEP negotiations and the achievement of a modern, comprehensive, high quality and mutually beneficial agreement would send a clear signal of ASEAN’s commitment to trade liberalization and economic integration.

"The comprehensive, high-quality and mutually beneficial economic partnership agreement shall benefit everyone despite the fact that the growth is not distributed equally,” said Prime Minister Hun Sen.

Leaders’ discussions centered on the theme of ‘Free Trade and Global Economy’. The Leaders affirmed ASEAN’s stable and positive growth outlook, and welcomed ASEAN’s progress in trade and investment performance with its Free Trade Agreement (FTA) partners.

At the end, all the leaders released the Joint Leaders’ Statement on the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) Negotiations.
