Singapore (FN), Nov. 14 - Vice Minister of Commerce Wang Shouwen said that the Chinese government always encourages and supports Chinese investors to invest in Cambodia, speaking on Monday in a meeting with Pan Sorasak, Minister of Commerce at the 33rd ASEAN Summit and Related Summits in Singapore.

Pan Sorasak reaffirmed his commitments to bring out the win-win policy for both parties and reassured the progress of regional economy, particularly the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (RCEP).

Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen once stated that when one invests in Cambodia, one does not just find market of the 16 million people, but also the markets of ASEAN and RCEP.

According to a report issued by Secretariat of One Window Service for Rice Export Formality (SOWS-REF) dated on 2 November 2018. China, the biggest Cambodian rice importer, imported more than 110,000 out of the 430,000 tons within just 10 months.

From 2013 to 2017, China was the largest source of investment in Cambodia with a total of US$5.3 billion, an average investment of US$1 billion per year mostly on banking, industry, and infrastructure sectors. The trade volume between the two countries has reached over US$5 billion as of 2018.
