Phnom Penh (FN), Nov. 12 – Sam Rainsy’s confidant and former CNRP lawmaker Ho Vann, failed to gather supporters to Kem Sokha’s house, opposition member leaked to Fresh News on Monday.

Ho Vann, through Facebook messenger, called on members to surround Kem Sokha’s house every evening from 5 p.m to 7 p.m. So far, no groups have appeared to surround Sokha’s house.

Members in the group rejected the calls saying they did not want to add further offenses to Kem Sokha, who recently was used as an objective for the “bet”, according to same source.

For Kem Sokha, he has requested further protections from local authority to ensure his safety, for he worried about unexpected incident derived from such plan.

The accused Sokha was put under judicial control in his house in Phnom Penh’s Tuol Kork district, following his pre-trail detention. Sokha was allegedly charged with conspiring with foreigners to topple the legitimate government of Cambodia.

It is worth noting that Sam Rainsy announced via Facebook on 9 November that he dared Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen to release former President Kem Sokha under the conditions that if Sokha released within the period of 29 December 2018 - 3 March 2018, the premier shall give up his premiership and that if not, Rainsy shall return home and be arrested.

Prime Minister confirmed shorty in an exclusive interview with Fresh News CEO Lim Chea Vutha that: “I bet with Sam Rainsy. If Kem Sokha is released, Hun Sen will resign; but if not, Rainsy shall dare to be arrested.”
