Phnom Penh (FN), Nov. 9 – His Majesty King Norodom Sihamoni appreciated the leadership of Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen, for bringing and maintaining peace, happiness and prosperity to the Kingdom of Cambodia and her people, addressing on the occasion of the 65th Anniversary of Independence Day held at the Independence Monument and in front of the Royal Palace.

His Majesty King and Prime Minister Hun Sen recalled the grand contributions of His Majesty King Father, Norodom Sihanouk, who fought for Cambodian independence from France in 1953.

“Prime Minister Hun Sen, Head of the Royal Government of Cambodia, has set forth wise policies to bring peace, unity, solidarity, and prestige to the international stage. We enjoy and benefit from the positive results born from building and defending this harmonious homeland,” said His Majesty.

The King also called on Cambodians to cooperate to safeguard peace and build Cambodia's future.

Addressing in front of His Majesty, civil servants, armed forces and people, Prime Minister Hun Sen vowed to promote national development and bring prosperity for the Cambodian people, following the four main principles.

The first principle is to build the nation with development in all areas based on the principles of solidarity, ethics, equity, freedom and justice, democracy and human rights for the prosperity and harmony of the nation.

The second is to protect national independence, peace, sovereignty and territorial integrity; protect national achievements, promote national competitiveness; prevent interferences to Cambodian internal affairs; and strictly oppose all acts involving color revolution, or any provocation that causes political instability or chaos in the Cambodian society.

The third is to settle land and maritime issues with neighboring countries on the basis of international law; and promote the development of the border area with peace and cooperation; not allow foreigners to use Cambodian territory to oppose other countries.

The fourth is to prevent and crack down on all kinds of crimes, including financial terrorism, money laundering, human and sex trafficking, transnational crime, and continue to promote effective safe village-commune policies.
