Phnom Penh (FN), Nov. 6 – Zaher M. Al-Khuraineg, Counselor of Kuwait Embassy in Phnom Penh, told Fresh News Founder and CEO Lim Chea Vutha in an interview at the embassy on Tuesday that the 83.02% of voter turnout in Cambodia’s general election held in July was a remarkable figure compared to only between 60 to 70 per cent of Kuwait’s voter turnout.

Zaher M. Al-Khuraineg told Fresh News that the excessive number of people going to vote reflected that Cambodian people favor democracy.

Zaher is also pleased with the development, peace, and democracy of Cambodia.

“Development derives from peace and political stability. Hope that people will work with the government to serve national interest,” the Counselor stated adding that, “Peace can surely attract investment, which also benefit Cambodian people.”

It is worth noting that Cambodia held her National Assembly member elections 2018 in July in a free, fair, and just manners with 83.02% of voter turnout. 20 political parties participated in the elections, observed by more than 90,000 international and national observers from over 70 institutions across the globe.
