Guangxi is an autonomous region in southern China, bordering Vietnam. By 2016, the province had a population of approximately 55 million.

In recent years Guangxi's economy has languished behind that of its wealthy neighbor and twin, Guangdong. Guangxi's 2011 nominal GDP was about US$185.9 billion and ranked 18th in China. Its per capita GDP was US$2,300.

Jiangsu province, an eastern-central coastal province of the People's Republic of China, is enriched in natural resources. It is one of the leading provinces in finance, education, technology and tourism, with its capital in Nanjing. Jiangsu had a population of 80 million in 2016. Jiangsu’s GDP ranked the second in China in 2016, after Guangdong, accounting for about 10.4% of the national total.

Jiangsu is also one of China's oldest cultural provinces. Currently, the leaders of Jiangsu Province also have many contacts and cooperation with the Cambodian authorities.
