Phnom Penh (FN), Oct. 21 – Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia Hun Sen arrived in the Republic of Turkey on Saturday for a working visit from 20-22 October 2018, at the invitation of the Government of the Republic of Turkey.

During his stay in Istanbul, Prime Minister paid a courtesy call on H. E. Mr. Binali Yildirim, President of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey.

Prime Minister and the President discussed in depth on strengthening Cambodia-Turkey cooperation and stated his will to open the Royal Embassy of Cambodia in Ankara, the capital of the Republic of Turkey in 2019, as Turkey already had her Embassy in Phnom Penh since 2013.

As planned, Cambodia and Turkey will also launch direct flight in time ahead to promote tourism, trade, and investment.

The two also exchanged views on bilateral and multilateral issues, regional and international issues, especially building trust and reciprocal assistance for mutual benefits.

Prime Minister told the President that he has always wanted to come to Turkey, a territory that connects Asia and Europe; the Strongman of Cambodia considered this trip to be the first ever official visit to the Republic of Turkey in the history of Cambodian leaders.

On the sidelines, Prime Minister Hun Sen also presided over the opening of Cambodian-Turkish Business Forum; delivered keynote speech; and witnessed the signing ceremony of Cooperation Agreement between Cambodia Chamber of Commerce and Turkey Chamber of Commerce.
