Phnom Penh (FN), Oct. 8 - The United Nations Development Program and Ministry of Planning of the Royal Government of Cambodia issued a joint press release on Monday to clarify the misleading poverty rate in Cambodia that was published in the Phnom Penh Post on 26 September 2018.

According to the press release, the proportion of Cambodians living below the poverty line was 13.5 percent, which is measured based on the consumption expenditure concept using the 2014 data from the Cambodia Socio-Economic Survey.

The press release came after a meeting between Ms. Pauline Tamesis, Resident Representative of the United Nations Development Program in Cambodia and Senior Minister Chhay Than, Minister of Planning on 5 October 2018.
