Phnom Penh (FN), Sept. 27 - The French Embassy in Phnom Penh invited the public to tour several buildings inside the Embassy, including the Ambassador’s Residence and park this Saturday 29th September on the occasion of the “Heritage Day”, an annual event that concurrently took place in 50 countries.

The French Embassy has stood for over 60 years, and been entirely renovated between 1993 and 1995 by a French firm, using the old 1950s remaining structures to form a new look with greenery.

France is not only the largest tourist destination in the world with over 80 million visitors annually, but also a large country that welcomes international students. Heritage Day will present a great opportunity to the public to explore the arts of French living and their skills with the presence of Christofle, a manufacturer of fine silver flatware and home accessories based in France.

Many other notables buildings and sites will be open to the public this year: the Phnom Penh City Hall, the Residence of the British Ambassador to Cambodia, the Residence of the Australian Ambassador to Cambodia, the UNESCO office, the French Lycée René Descartes, the Agence française de Développement (AFD), the Royal University of Fine Arts, the Conservation of Angkor in Siem Reap as well as Raffles Hotel in Phnom Penh and Siem Reap.

The timetable and form of visits are determined by each institution. You can find more information on the Facebook page www.facebook.com/HeritageDayKH.
