Hanoi, Vietnam (FN), Sept. 26 – On behalf of president Moon Jae In, South Korean Prime Minister Lee Nak Yeon, on Wednesday afternoon, verbally conveyed the congratulations to Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen on the July’s election victory when the two paid tribute to the late President of Vietnam, Tran Dai Quang, who passed away on 21 September 2018, in Hanoi, Vietnam.

According to minister attached to Prime Minister Sri Thamrong, Lee also welcomed Samdech Hun Sen on his reappointment as Prime Minister of Cambodia on 6th September.

The two have also discussed on bilateral relations and fruitful cooperation established by Cambodian Prime Minister over the past 21 years; and underlined the commitment to bring Cambodia-Korea talks to another level.

In return, Prime Minister Hun Sen conveyed the warmest support, on behalf of ASEAN leaders, for the historical success of the second Inter-Korea summit between South Korean President Moon Jae-in and North Korean President Kim Jong-un in Pyongyang, which has eased tension not only in the Korean Peninsula, but also the world.

According to the statement of the foreign affairs ministry dated on Tuesday, the Government of the Kingdom of Cambodia applauded Pyongyang Joint Declaration, which represents another significant and important step toward national reconciliation, durable peace, win-win cooperation and co-prosperity in the Korean Peninsula.

Cambodia fully supports further constructive dialogues leading to the realization of complete denuclearization, permanent peace and peaceful reunification of the two Koreas, the statement added.
