Phnom Penh (FN), Sept. 26 – Chinese government has provided a total of approximately $2.5 million worth of vehicles, motorbikes and electric devices to conduct Cambodian census 2019.

The aids include 52 cars, 300 motorbikes, 450 desktops, 50 laptops, 30 printer, 30 projectors, 10 photocopiers, 200 tablets, and server, according to the report presented by the General Census Commission on Wednesday morning at the handover ceremony in Phnom Penh.

Representative of Chinese ambassador to Cambodia Li An said that the census is important for the formulation of socioeconomic development policies as well as issues related to the people’s livelihoods.

The Chinese embassy hopes that the aid will help Cambodian government successfully conduct the census.

Cambodia will begin the third census, which will take place from 3-13 March 2019, with the employment of 47,000 officials and a cost of approximately $8 million of the government budget.

It is estimated that Cambodian population will reach 16 million in 2019.
