Siem Reap (FN), July 13 - Siem Reap Governor Khim Bunsong received a courtesy call on the delegation of Angkor International Airport Investment Co., Ltd., led by Zou Yuhui, Project Deputy Managing Director at Siem Reap provincial hall.

Khim Bunsong mentioned Cambodia-China cooperation and congratulated the launch of a new airport to be built in Siem Reap’s Sot Nikum district on a 1,700 hectares of land.

Zou Yuhui said that after Cambodian national election, the company will hold a groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of the airport to be completed in five years. He requested the governor for Siem Reap urbanization master plan to avoid construction risks in a 20 km parameter surrounding the new airport.

The company also focuses on irrigation systems, reservoirs, flood prevention system, and adequate supply of clean water, as the airport will require 1,800 cubic meters of water per day in the short term and 4,000 cubic meters in the long run.

The new airport has a capital investment of $900 million with a 55-year contract under Angkor Air International Investment Co., Ltd. is a company in Kunming city of Yunnan province of China.
